Libia, sequestrato peschereccio italiano: interviene la Farnesina

(LaPresse) - Appena appresa la notizia del sequestro del peschereccio italiano “Tramontana”, nel golfo di Sirte, da parte di una motovedetta libica – confermato dalla nostra Ambasciata a Tripoli – il ministro degli Esteri, Enzo Moavero Milanesi ha dato istruzioni all’ambasciatore d’Italia, Giuseppe Buccino, di adoperarsi prontamente con la massima efficacia al fine del corretto trattamento e di un rapido rilascio dei membri dell’equipaggio e dell’imbarcazione, costretta a dirigersi verso il porto di Misurata.

La rende noto la Farnesina, precisando che non sono ancora chiare le ragioni del sequestro, verosimilmente legate ad attività di pesca, in acque peraltro definite ad “alto rischio” e dunque sconsigliate da parte del Comitato Interministeriale per la Sicurezza dei Trasporti e delle Infrastrutture. Nessun ferito, ma tutti e 14 i marinai, italiani e tunisini, dei due pescherecci siciliani sequestrati dalla Guardia costiera libica sono sottoposti a un fermo di polizia per accertamenti. Si tratta del motopesca «Matteo Mazzarino», della società armatoriale Mcv Pesca e del peschereccio «Afrodite Pesca», di Antonio Pellegrino anch' esso di Mazara del Vallo.

[…] il fermo, avvenuto da parte della marina del generale Khalifa Haftar, rischia di diventare un «caso politico» se il rilascio degli equipaggi non sarà immediato. «In quel caso il gesto non potrebbe essere isolato dal contesto, ovvero diventerebbe un atto che ha anche una chiara valenza politica, un atto di forza per ottenere qualcosa in cambio», spiegano fonti libiche.

Specie in vista della Conferenza di Palermo per la quale sono in corso contatti continui proprio con Haftar dal quale è per altro giunta la smentita di una non partecipazione ventilata da recenti indiscrezioni mediatiche. Questo non vuol dire che il fermo sia stato premeditato, ma nel caso di prolungamento rischia di proporsi come un «ovvio segnale».

Russia Opens Fire On North Korean 'Fishing Vessel' In Sea Of Japan; 1 Dead, 9 Injured

As tensions escalate in and around Syria, Russia just added another straw to the camel's back of 'proxy' wars between Washington and the rest. One Russian border patrol officer and nine North Korean fishermen were injured after Russian border patrol was forced to open fire during inspection of a North Korean fishing vessel, "Daye Young 10", whose crew resisted search, behaved aggressively, and tried to flee. One of the injured fishermen later died in the hospital.

The incident happened on Friday evening at 22:20 Moscow time (19:20 GMT) in Russia’s exclusive economic zone in the country’s Far East(Quito-Yamato), according to the FSB statement, released online on Saturday. The term "exclusive economic zone" describes an area of coastal water in a certain distance from the country’s shore, where the respective state has exclusive rights for fishing and other economic activities. 

According to Federal Security Service website statement:

“During the search and control activities, [Russian border guards] found illegally-obtained water bio resources on board the vessel. The ship’s crew behaved aggressively towards members of the search group, refusing to comply with legal requirements.”

As RT reports, the vessel had 48 North Korean crew members on board.

After a search group was dispatched to the vessel, the ship attempted to leave Russia’s exclusive economic zone towards North Korea, FSB announced.
The Russian border guard vessel fired several “warning shots to stop” the North Korean ship, yet the vessel still continued its maneuver.
The crew of the North Korean vessel also tried to attack the FSB members already on board their vessel.As a result “one of the members of the search team sustained a head injury.”
In the immediate aftermath Russian FSB agents fired shots at the North Korean crew to prevent them from “obtaining weapons” from the border guards and further “harming them.”
“Nine crew members of the intruder-ship were injured, one of them later died,” the FSB stated.
After treating the injured, the North Korean crew was taken to the Russian border guard ships.
The FSB also noted that the injured North Koreans from the vessel will be taken to different Russian ports in the region.
The FSB has already “informed the Consulate General of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in the [Russian] city of Vladivostok on the use of weapons and the measures undertaken.”
Presumably Washington will have something to say about this 'deplorable act of violence', condemning the actions and carefully sidestepping its 'self-defense' bombing of Yemen... because "that's different."
